Monthly maintenance updates will occur on Friday, June 20th, 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. This includes our monthly mandatory security patches for all services. Users may experience intermittent downtime.
Monthly billing for RingCentral for February - June 2025 will be sent to departments and processed in DASH before end of year closing.
Help Desk Closure
The ITS Help Desk will be closed on Thursday, June 19th in observance of the Juneteenth Holiday, and reopen on Friday, June 20th.
ITS Client Portal Redesign
The new ticketing portal launched on May 30th and features a cleaner layout and enhanced tools to make finding support options faster and easier. You can easily submit tickets or gain access to your services requests by visiting https://www.utm.edu/helpdesk. If you have any questions, please contact the ITS Computer Help Desk at 731-881-7900.
Change in Autoplay/Autorun
On June 10th, ITS will be disabling autoplay and autorun for removeable devices as a security measure. In practice, an inserted DVD or flash drive will not automatically begin playing the contents when inserted into a Windows computer. You will still be able to find and use the removeable device under the This PC section of your File Explorer and use it normally.

Good Cyber Hygiene
Threat actors are always looking for easy targets, those with "low hanging fruit" or not taking care of cybersecurity basics. The basics of good cyber hygiene are not just applicable at work, but also at home to help protect your family and friends.
Tools to Thwart Attacks
Use unique strong passwords or passphrases for everything.
Use Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) everywhere possible.
Don't approve prompts that you did not initiate.
Only enter 3-digit Duo codes from your device, not from text, email, phone call, etc.
Use a password manager to help keep track of all your unique credentials.
Keep your device operating systems, software, and applications updated.
Use reputable anti-malware on your devices and keep it updated.
Only install applications and software from official app stores and trusted websites.
Securely wipe/erase devices before selling or disposal.
Limit what personal information you share on social media.
Regularly backup your devices and important information.
Be cautious when opening links or attachments from unknown/untrusted sources.
